June 8 - Rosewort

The rosewort (Sedum rosea) is blooming amongst the forget-me-nots in the lower elevation rock gardens.  This deep red little flower is about 4 inches tall with slightly-toothed flat leaves.  It is also known as roseroot because the root smells like roses when it is cut open.  Young plants are edible.
