June 6 - Arnica

Today was my first sighting of the frigid arnica (Arnica frigida), an abundant yellow flower that blooms June through July.  This bright yellow flower grows on dry, gravelly slopes and is a favorite food for hoary marmots and arctic ground squirrels.
