June 8 - Mountain Avens

The mountain avens (Dryas octopetala) are starting to bloom in the alpine meadows but not at higher elevations yet.  We need more rain still up high, its very dry with all the wind we have had lately.  Mountain avens are also called eight-petaled avens and are part of the rose family.
